EXT. 35-FOOT FISHING BOAT-OCEAN-DAY
Two men are fishing. SCOTT is baiting his hook with live bait and CHE is leaning on the starboard side gunwale while looking out over a calm ocean. His rig already in the water. Seagulls fly overhead.
SCOTT: So you knew this whole time?
CHE: Yeah, but I didn’t think it would become this big of a problem.
SCOTT: Well, are you going to bring it up?
CHE: What? When? What good will that do?
SCOTT: You should have brought it up months ago, now it’s septic. I am going to say something to Luiza.
A striped Marlin leaps from the water 30 meters from the boat
CHE: No!
Scott casts his rig out to where the Marlin jumped. He has his back to Che.
SCOTT: It’ll do everyone good. You know light drives out the darkness.
Che picks up a bait knife and holds it in a dagger grip. He gazes at Scott’s back.
Scott’s reel starts screaming
SCOTT: Fish on! WOAH! Get in the wheelhouse! Bring her around to starboard. HURRY!
Che steps closer to Scott. The action is muffled
SCOTT: Che, go now!
Che raises the knife.
The fish is a monster of speed. Its scales flash in the sunlight as it lunges into the boat like a javelin. It’s sharp beak sails through Scott’s chest. The men and fish fall to deck.
