Shortly after the ring has been destroyed
INT. BAG END-DAY
FRODO sits in the kitchen across from GANDALF as they drink tea
GANDALF: So you have made up your mind then? You are leaving for Valinor, with the elves.
FRODO:Yes, on October 24th, maybe earlier.
GANDALF: Ha, if you remember that is the same day you woke up in Rivendell all that time ago
Gandalf lights his pipe
GANDALF: Have you told Sam?
FRODO: Not yet
GANDALF: You will miss each other in your old age
FRODO: Yes, but Sam was just married and Bilbo is coming with me
GANDALF: Well, I will also be joining you. This world doesn’t need a White Wizard any longer. The old ways have changed, the elves are leaving, Sauron is defeated. Men are left to lead their lives happily across Middle-Earth.
FRODO: Well thats wonderful, another adventure.
GANDALF: Actually, I had something else in mind for the meantime.
FRODO: I was in the heart of Mount Doom a little less than a month ago with Smeagol at my throat. I’m not quite sure I am ready for another adventure like that.
GANDALF: This is not as serious, this is more of a business proposal.
FRODO: I’m listening
GANDALF: You see, Valinor is a blessed and immortal realm full of wonderful things, but some things from the Shire cannot be replicated even in the undying lands. I am talking about Old Toby, Longbottom leaf. It would enhance my retirement to have access to Sweet Galenas.
FRODO: Returning from the undying lands is not permitted
GANDALF: Well it has been permitted before, in the case of Glorfindel, I returned to middle earth for my mission against Sauron. I’m sure we could weasel something. It is not technically impossible for an elf.
FRODO: So where do I fit into this scheme?
There is a knock at the door. Frodo to goes answer
FRODO: Ah Sam! Come in
SAM steps into Bag end and begins to take off his cloak
SAM: Good Afternoon Mr. Frodo. I’ve brought you a bottle of Old Winyards from Southfarthing, Rose and I went overnight to visit some of the farms there. Also this, the finest of this years crop.
Sam holds up a small sack of Longbottom leaf. Gandalf’s eyes widen and his nostrils flare at the scent of it.
